Can we have an original thought?

Question: I have one question I keep brooding over and experimenting with.. (Being in Global creative storytelling in abc.com )… What is the origin of a truly original thought? How do you tap into a field of pure undisturbed original thought? Now I experiment daily with it in meditation. That’s the process … But what is the source of inspiration? How can you tap into it? Consciously! Ranjeeth I believe this also links to your last Community meeting speech about using the Ancient wisdom of India to create a Globally outstanding Indian Startup environment. A thought provoking question! Meditation being a clearly Indian process tool for mind and spiritual growth could be a part of the answer I believe. Seen from the daily practical perspective: Right now I’m challenged with finding original thoughts for video projects with a Belgian Nobel Price winner and a UK cutting edge tech Cancer doctor. Now… with deadline… I have to create original story telling that can “touch” some of the brightest minds in the World. Interesting challenge… What do you do when you have to create the environment for original thoughts? To be continued…

In my understanding, our minds are incapable of thinking original. Whatever we think is a manifestation of data collected by our mind in past through various sensory organs. It is nothing but a cocktail of what we have seen, touched, smelled or experienced earlier. Most of the creative thinking is done by the right brain which unlike our left brain never provides reasons for reaching a conclusion. This is the reason why we are tricked into thinking that our thought was original. We can definitely create an environment where our creative thinking is best or when our right brain is at best. Meditation is a great way of augmenting the computing or as many would like to say creative thinking capabilities of our right brain. With regards to your projects, if these things don’t help, then you might want to study the environment in which your clients are and then make a fine cocktail of the data collected in that process. Even best of the actors spend a lot of time studying and living their characters to provide full justice to it. This is the very reason why an American band cannot create a Dhinka Chika song and an Indian band cannot create My Roof is on Fire song unless they got inspired by each other’s music which they had heard before 😊

I am loving this new way of blogging. Answering a real question is much easier than thinking creatively and writing a blog. Guess my right brain is not doing to0 well. Time to meditate :)
