“I suggest we intervene on our own behalf and that we do it right now, in the present moment. When things begin accelerating wildly out of control, something patience is the only answer, press pause. We have time for this” — Douglas Rushkoff

It was around 3:30 at night, when I began to lose hope of sleep. I been laying in my bed for about 40 minutes, and then decided to give up this hopeless pursuit. Sometimes I just get restless on empty dark nights, my mind is racing with thought, emotions swirling around in the pit of my stomach.

I turn on my computer, to be productive or not to be, is thee question. At first I decided to be unproductive and search for the some new episodes of Halt and Catch Fire. Hoping to numb the mind, but I fidget in my chair, and I search my emails, blogs and social media.

I know better, I been here before, its useless to fight it. Its wise to just dance with the chaotic energy swirling around me. I turn on Nightmares On Wax In A Space Outta Sound and open up my notebook and bring to write.

America has been a mess for a while now, and is beginning to leak out of our screens, into the streets…

Pause, and think WTF. Where is the voice of Allen Ginsberg when you need him? Who is gonna heal the soul of humanity?

Then Charlottesville: Race and Terror — VICE echoes in my awareness, “We want to show everyone, that we are not just a meme”

I continue:

America this are beginning to spin wildly out of control,

(Cooperate) America you have taken all and now we (the people) have nothing

You have become unconscious to the people of the United States

of all beings of the world,

trying to form a more perfect Union,

trying to establish Justice

trying to ensure Tranquility,

trying to provide peace

trying to promote humanity

trying to secure the bliss of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.

What the, We the people? Really, The Reality Show that has become America is taking up too of my attention. I switch focus and play with some images, I modify a Shepard Fariey Image, with the We The People Script. And think maybe later when I can tell for sure, if its night or morning, I can finish this poem. The clock is turning, and so is my attention.

I notice, that the new Team Human with Douglas Rushkoff is released. Ep. 51 Make It So: Civic Hall Labs. I press play and lay back down in bed.

As my attention focus on Douglas Rushkoff’s opening monologue, I hear:

The world certainly feeling, up for grabs these days…

A flash of connection and pattern recognition, hits like a wave of consciousness to the shore of my awareness, and I knew, what was needed of me and what exactly I was going to do.

I clicked open Lightworks and Audacity, and then press pause, pour some hot water over some loose tea leafs.

Good morning America, SatoriD signing in and ready to rock and rolling.

Douglas goes on about the urge to react to the constant churn of attention-grabbing media. Should we have a “reaction” ready for every crisis? Or is there value in slowing down enough to really “respond” to the complicated events unfolding in a frenetic world.

We live in a digital media environment, what comes to his mind is “Don’t feed the trolls”. What happens in the comment section of the news, ends up leaking out into real life. We can recreate the chaos of the net in real life. But In real life we have a buffer, to respond instead of always reacting.

What we really need now is to response. Where we take time to concern the whole system we are dealing with. How do I really want to response to this, what’s the next best move I can make?

I think to myself press pause, I have time to finish my poem and then make a video edit of Team Human.
