Today, in this environment of stress, do we need to explain why meditation is essential? Today people’s lives have become full of hustle and bustle. In such a situation, stress has entered into common life as if stress is a part of life. In fact, stress has become a part of life. People do not sleep at night. People keep changing sides on the floors. Due to lack of proper sleep, there has been a flood of various types of delusional mental diseases. People’s lives are filled with restlessness. People want mental peace for a few moments. For this they run towards hill stations. Spend holidays in the mountains. Whereas the reality is that peace is not in the mountains but within ourselves. If we understand the secret of meditation, if we include meditation in our life, then we will understand that the peace we were searching for is present within ourselves.Despite trying hard, people become physically and mentally ill while facing the struggle of life. Then they run to doctors and psychiatrists. Physical and mental illnesses get resolved temporarily but not permanently. Then meditation works like a panacea in such a situation.

A Hermit or Saint Meditate

The God who is present everywhere will be within us also, right? When it is everywhere, it is inside us too. But we do not realize or experience it. We know why because we always remain extroverted through our senses, that is, our instincts flow outwards. The flow of our energy is outward. Although God is everywhere, outside and inside, he can be known and found everywhere. But being connected to the outside, we are subject to the senses. And our interest is towards the things dear to the senses, not towards God located outside. Therefore, if the instinct is external and under the control of the senses, then there will be difficulty in knowing God. That’s why we have to go inside with our eyes closed. When our eyes were closed, we were eighty percent cut off from the outside. But as soon as you go inside, you come face to face with thoughts. Good thoughts and bad thoughts, all attack together! There is a flood of thoughts when you sit to meditate. And to calm these thoughts we have to take the help of meditation. Meditation helps us to descend within ourselves and realize the divine present within us. The meaning is clear meditation can help us realize God. And hence meditation becomes more important. I will discuss further how to calm the mind through meditation. Meditation also happens on the corporeal and then on the formless itself. We turned the instinct of the mind from outside inwards and with this the mind started flowing with greater speed. Then, to concentrate this mind, we take the help of meditation on form, which means meditation on the physical form. Then the mind starts concentrating. There is a decrease in the flow of thoughts. Through this method, where 100 percent of thoughts were flowing, now they are reduced to 2 to 5 percent, through Sakar meditation. Then as the mind becomes concentrated, it changes from formless to formless. This is science.

We were discussing why meditation is essential, so the first reason for this can be said that through it self-realization and God or Brahma can be realized. Even if this topic is left aside, meditation works like a panacea in solving many such human difficulties. Presented below are some reasons that have emerged after research by many institutions and individuals, which will better explain why meditation is necessary.

1- Reduction in depression

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Jon Kabat-Zinn (founder of MBSR), the University of Oxford, and the University of Massachusetts Medical School, after researching meditation and depression, concluded that meditation can help reduce depression. Amazing reduction or improvement occurs if it is done regularly. There is no doubt that depression is reduced through meditation.

2- Sleep

Medical science says that one reason for depression is not getting enough sleep. Although many other diseases occur if one does not get proper sleep, lack of sleep is especially one of the major causes of depression. The University of Southern California, Harvard Medical School, and the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) conducted research in this area and found that meditation can dramatically improve sleep. Those who meditate will not deny that after incorporating meditation into their lives, they are able to get a night of better sleep.

3- Meditation for better memory

Who else can know better than him how important memory strength is for students? Researchers like the University of California, Berkeley, and Dr. Sara Lazar have done much research on meditation and memory and found that meditation produces positive results for improving memory. Therefore, students must meditate, it can prove to be very helpful in building their career.

4- Better effect on the digestive system

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Massachusetts General Hospital explored the effects of meditation on the digestive system and found that the digestive system of people who meditated worked more efficiently than other people. So if your digestive system is not well then start meditating from now on.

5- Helpful in controlling blood pressure

Whether it is high blood pressure or low blood pressure, meditation helps control both. The Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine and Maharishi University of Management have investigated the effects of meditation on blood pressure and found it to be surprisingly helpful. A person suffering from high blood pressure or low blood pressure must take refuge in meditation.

There are many reasons and results given above which prove why meditation should be included in our daily routine. Along with this, there are countless other benefits of meditation. Researchers like Richard Davidson and The Center for Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have explored the effects of meditation on mental development and found that meditation increases concentration and leads to amazing mental development. On the other hand, institutions like Stanford University Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) have found in their research that pain can also be relieved through meditation.

Development of extrasensory qualities, personal growth, control over emotions, control over the effects of aging, better decision-making ability, increased intuition, balance in life, sense of overall well-being, reduction in impulsivity, and improved physical and mental energy levels. Meditation can help us enhance qualities like growth and inner peace, promote equanimity, etc. as well as give relief from headaches, quick recovery from illness, and enhance qualities like patience, compassion, etc. to improve relationships.
