It’s all about Doing
So I know focus is the key. I have read about it many times. Saw it in Kung-fu films. The documentaries on Discovery channel also proved it with Scientific proofs. The ancient scriptures also say so. So now I know the “Truth”. I know about positive thinking, I know about forgiveness and letting go the things, I know about accepting people as they are, I am supposed to love everyone and everything unconditionally. Is that it? What happens to me when it comes to practicality? Why do I behave exactly the way I shouldn’t.
I asked the Buddha (The Enlightened One), “I know so much, what else should I know so to be perfect and happy?”
He smiled compassionately and said “It hardly matters what you know. It’s all about what you practice, in real life. You don’t need to know everything but what matters is to know a single thing and practice it for lifetime. Take anything and practice it regularly, very soon you will realize everything”.
Hmmm…makes sense. It’s very difficult to know something and then to practice the same. But it is easier to practice something and whatever knowledge we gain from it remains with us. So mere knowledge is not important but the wisdom that comes after practicing it is what matters.
Still we need to make an effort. We need to dedicate time, be honest with the self and see the things from holistic approach. Taking out some time to think what we want and believing that we can get the opportunity to live the life like we always wanted. When we start thinking of the life as journey and the experiences that we want, we start feeling opened, happy and like a child. A child who have hopes, for whom nothing is impossible, someone who is very innocent and can believe on positive side of life. Yes, a child. One, who is happy and smiles every time. Who accepts everyone and everything he gets. Who forgives everybody instantly and the one who loves everyone without any condition. Ah..so it sounds much easier than before. Everyone of us was a child at some point and just remembering how we used to can make us believe the true nature of the human being.
I read an article recently about a man who undergone a surgery after an accident and his eyesight was gone. The reason was not identified but doctors reported that some veins connecting to brain were damaged. They had no hopes. One fine day he started remembering his childhood and things he loved. He found this exercise joyful and practiced the same, every day. After some days, his eyesight started improving and became so good that he could live a normal life. This can be seen as a miracle or from a logical perspective of activity of brain cells. Whatever it was the practice of visualizing did a trick.
So, its all about Doing! I am now going to make some new year resolutions and going to practice them. Honestly!
