Night!
At times I leave my bed at 3, prepare lots of coffee and with my coffee mug in hand I climb to the terrace of our apartment. In the silence of night under the blanket of the dark sky, I let free the reins of my mind. Somewhere in the background a cricket would chirp. Occasionally the sound of a vehicle would create a few ripples. It’s all like minor beats in the major chord of the rhythm that’s playing in me. Slowly the sky changes colour. Shades of blue start mingling into the gloomy black. At some point a breeze starts, just strong enough to ruffle my locks. The chirping of birds start almost at the point where my body starts caving in for its natural needs. My tipsy head now starts registering familiar sounds of civilization. After the solitude of night these disturbances feel unnatural and intriguing. Delivery trucks scurrying around, uncles gearing up for their morning chores, vendors starting their business, as all energies in me drag me towards my bed. Reluctantly I pick up my mug which has been refilled quite some times now and in almost a state of trance walk back as the golden hue starts spreading from the horizon.
What is my favourite thing about night? You tell!
