How you should use LinkedIn!
Background
Needless to say, LinkedIn is the #1 professional network in the world. With the platform boasting over 1 billion users, it is a great place to:
- Build a personal brand — influence!
- Promote your company and product
- Recruit top talent
It can be very fruitful to continue to build your network daily. The more you interact, the more network effects you generate.
Results
I went from having 300 followers and 300 connection requests to over 2000 followers and 1,700+ connections in a span of 1 year.
I have saved over 300+ hours in the year since I do not have to open each profile, send a connection note, follow-up with messages, interact with their profiles and maintain all of this in the CRM.
On a recent post, I got over 7000 impressions and 3900 unique views. Higher impression count -> more visibility -> more lead generation.
It is possible to go viral without having a big network but that is more luck than process.
Cost
With a cost of around $1150 / year (including taxes) and 300+ hours saved, I paid around $3.83 / hour, whereas I value my time more than $70/hour. Further, all of this is tax deductible if you have a business.
Disclaimer
My intention is not to artificially grow my network or spam it. I do not create bots. I use my personal LinkedIn account only. I only add profiles that are relevant for my sales and recruiting efforts, so that I grow my network meaningfully.
How do I do it?
When I need to sell my SaaS product, or recruit talent on LinkedIn, I create a workflow on The Magic Drip as follows.
I configure each action — either adding a delay between actions or setting messages / connection notes.
After this I add leads to the workflow — essentially LinkedIn public urls.
And lastly, I configure my activity limits to ensure that the platform is performing limited number of requests on my behalf to avoid spamming the platform.
