Every day I learn more about how to be the perfect blend of civilized beast — to live with intention, to be mindful, to be grateful, to express gratitude, all while never losing the fiery savagery within. Listening to the belly of the beast carefully — cautiously — so I may get at the core of who I am, so I may honestly translate my internality (yes, I’m a wordsmithette of sorts. I revel in coining my own words), outside of me.
Writing and thinking helps me do this. Putting ideas on paper guide and inform the voice I walk around with. I love conversation — with myself, and others; conversation is my playground where I get to travel the far corners of the universe if I so wish (and, if my verbal partner(s) is/are so willing to join me in such an expedition). Or, I can circle the familiar patch of land if I’m not inclined to sail very far. No matter the distance, each time, with words, through words (words. Words. w o r d s) engender actualization, capture truth. The way I use them, anyhow. And, I love to discover other truths, particularly truths differing from my own; my mind’s eye enchanted by how they connect. Because, even a disconnect is connection, for me.
I’ve learned that the most important connection you make in this world is the conversation you strike with yourself. You talk to yourself before anyone else. The way you talk to yourself is generally the way you approach others, who, are really just removed/metaphorical extensions of yourself. You approach with either the intention (conscious or not) to create or destroy, and, it is much easier to (self-)destruct.
Unearthing and climbing out of my base brings un-compromised truth. I just have to remember to filter and translate the primal along the way.
