Not Just the Cruelty of Mankind

Aching bones in the morning from a restless day prior

Heart burns but not from

indigestion

Stomach pains from incessant

tension

Is there a place,

a kind of Refuge,

for those who have uncovered some of the painful.

truths of the days in which we live?

There is no great nobility to philosophy, unless

you can be relieved from fear of death of

hope

in the same way a soldier would

relieve himself of the fear of death of

body.

The raw motivator being to

get to the bloody end of it all.

How fortunate are those who do have a Refuge

from

the torturous light of truth

in that paradise of ignorance

Perhaps the many millions suffering through a cruel world

have it better off unrealized

A notion is struck and

the gears in motion and

how could someone not wonder if

there is a wrong doing that comes so natural as

to be paralleled in our every

thought?

And,

If all of society is guilty

of this adapted wrong doing, then

how can they be responsible for setting the structure of justice?

For would it not be, that

every standard of their justice system,

every act of legislation,

every hand raise,

poll tally,

hanging chad movement of the system be made unjust

by its very nature?

Surely

If the wrong doing is paralleled in our every thought, then

this must be so.

And,

With these courses of thought,

How do we then respect

and comply

with these falsitudes of living a moral

and just life,

if we now know them to be

innately wrong?

The billboard,

made by man

with chemical based paints set

atop a wood, metal,

and plastic atrocity

jetting up from the grassy earth beside

the hot pavement of the busy freeway, says

“STOP LITTERING — -ITS NOT NATURAL”

with the sweet woodland creatures holding

signs of petition

in agreement with the witty slogan.

The same woodland creatures who will probably

become road kill

with the next days rush hour

on the same hot pavement and they become

the litter of civilized man.

So how then,

are we to take this world seriously in any faculty of perception?

How then,

do we wake up hopeful when we know that the life we are to live that day

is inherently wrong?

There is no shadow,

cavern,

or other damp, dark

place of Refuge

to shield the burning eyes once the

light of truth has

permeated everything in our

vision.
