So follow the steps below:

Configure your firewall to enable Dynamic database port for the QuickBooks File Doctor, and all the QuickBooks apps. Set up your firewall on all client computers and your Quickbooks server.

Verify that you have turned on hosting on the server. Hosting means allowing other computers (workstations) to allow the file from the main computer (the host), which stores the company file.

QuickBooks Desktop uses a service to manage company file access:

#1 QuickBooks Desktop 2018 uses QuickBooksDB28
#2 QuickBooks Desktop 2017 uses QuickBooksDB27
#3 QuickBooks Desktop 2016 uses QuickBooksDB26

In Windows Control Panel, you can get this service in User Accounts, under Users for this computer. Look for the service that corresponds to your version of QuickBooks Desktop.

Steps to ping the server: Verify that you are able to ping the server both with IP and host name on the server and all client computers.

You can use ping to test both the system name and the IP address of the computer. If pinging the IP address is OKAY, but pinging the computer name is unsuccessful, you might have a name resolution error. In this matter, verify that the computer name you are elaborating can be fixed via the local Hosts file, by trying Domain Name System (DNS) queries, or through NetBIOS name resolution methods.
