What is Package Forwarding Service and how it works?

Postagesavers transportation service

One of the tasks that falls on the shoulders of online stores in the implementation of their online businesses is the delivery of goods purchased from these stores to customers.

But many large online stores (Amazon, TaoBao, Aliexpress, etc.) run their business far outside their home countries and their tasks include solving issues of international delivery of purchases or parcels. In other words, they are focused on an international delivery service named package forwarding service, which is sometimes just called as package forwarding.

In order to reduce the cost of delivery prices and make their goods more attractive to consumers at a price (that can ultimately be very high due to various customs duties and restrictions about some transportation methods), large popular online stores, in turn, cooperate their business with large international companies in the field of delivery and rely on their service.

Among the most well-known companies offering package forwarding in the most convenient way for their customers, such popular delivery companies as DHL, UPS, USPS, FedEx, Planet Express and not only. These companies have representative offices in many countries where goods are delivered, and they have their own guarantees, as well as an excellent marketing policy that completely suits all market participants.

The package forwarding service works as follows:

  • upon buying goods from any of online stores, the buyer indicates his address;
  • under the terms of the purchase of goods outside of his country, the buyer is also forced to pay forwarding of goods across the border, choosing the delivery liked method as one of the options upon ordering;
  • so, the purchase is initially sent to the carrier’s company warehouse and undergoes its preliminary processing – repackaging, labeling, etc.
  • in the order processing and its payment, an online store receives payment for both goods and freight, part of which immediately is transferred to the account of the forwarding company, and as a result, the buyer has the opportunity to accept his order, since all of its costs are already included in the price.
