It was never funny. Friends and acquaintances gave me strange looks. Counting, touching, obsessive — repetitive thoughts, avoiding the lines in sidewalks. It was so tiring — exhausted by the end of the day. I was lucky — it eventually faded almost to nothing. I can, on occasion, feel it lurking somewhere in my mind but it no longer bothers me. The hardest part I realize now is that I didn’t know what it was — it had no name, no rhyme nor reason. It was a long, confusing time in my life. YMMV
