Great post, sounds like an awesome trip. I agree with your comment that most people mean it well, a fixed expression we use with people we know and care about when we know they are going to be out of sight and possibly far away. I’m a white guy, I have people tell me to stay safe all the time. Or at least often. (I also realize that your post is about more than those two words.)
