One Exercise That Will Change The Way You Write Forever
Todd Brison

Todd, I love the way you summed it up as “write to write”!

Someone may have responded with this already and I’m too lazy to read all the comments rights now. In Julia Cameron’s book The Artist’s Way, she advocates practicing something similar called “morning pages “— writing three pages of words, preferably longhand, as soon as possible in the morning (before your mind gets filled up with too many inputs from external sources, but is awake enough to write). In this case, she refers to this as “priming the pump” to write. It has worked for me many times.

I like your suggestion of being willing to write stream-of-consciousness at any time, not just in the morning. I need to add this awareness to my writer’s toolbox!

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?
