Low social mobility is a blight that plagues the Atlanta area. This immobility leads to lower growth for all due to misallocation and under-utilization of human capital as well as decreased productivity. It will also choke the labor supply, again cutting growth. Much of this intergenerational immobility is caused by physical immobility, which can tackled. To raise social mobility rates, it is recommended that the Connect 400 Initiative is completed. This policy will lower commute times which will in turn increase social mobility. Additionally, it will create jobs, stimulate the local economy, and reduce automobile emissions. By increasing mobility in all regards, the Atlanta area will thrive and prosper now and in the future.
