So many Amens, Jo! While so many of these things feel like they should be common sense they are painfully absent from the practices of even mature industry web presences. If UI/UX teams started by asking themselves how they feel as consumers when bombarded by these same practices a lot of this stuff would never get out of the gate. Relationship marketing gets tossed out the window the second trust is blown, and when I get hit with a pop-up only seconds into a visit, I’m already done. The other layers of manipulation definitely don’t tell a visitor they are respected and valued. Thanks for the primer! Sorely needed.
