A photo story on the French-quarter of Puducherry, India

This photo blog aims at finding the timeless beauty of the city, in its real worth. Pondicherry or Puducherry is one of the prominent towns in South India. It is a union territory by itself.

The French Quarter

This particular real estate (surrounding the Aurobindo Ashram) has an everlasting beauty with broad, clean streets and trees on either side to provide shade. It’s hard to find the heat of summer in this part of the city.

The place was under the control of the French and one can find the French influence right from the food and the people to the colours of the walls present there. The surreal beauty of the French architecture and the people living here totally transport you to a different world. You can see a number of bicycles, many of which are vintage. You can’t find some of them elsewhere.

A lazy afternoon! A bicycle parked in front of a beautifully painted door! Do I even need a reason to capture this beauty?

Every wall here has a story to tell. Inspite of the walls sporting a number of radically different shades, none of them are aesthetically out of place.

This picture was taken while crossing one of the streets near the Aurobindo Ashram.

A number of school children were returning wearing turban on their heads.

Here are some other photographs that show how colourful this part of the city is.

A few more…..

The church..

The beautiful beach of Pondicherry.

I was lucky during this photo shoot! Just when I was packing up, I spotted this guy near the rocks. He too was from Chennai and gladly accepted me to take a picture of him making music.

I made friends with this guy soon after. ☺

Every travel is an experience in itself. Travel to places unknown and humble yourself. Even if you do not gain much from your journeys, you will atleast have some amazing stories to tell your grandchildren.
