The month of May welcomed a number of annual tech conferences, as well as a slew of more intimate meetups and get-togethers focused on identity in the digital age and themes of decentralization.

Here’s just a snapshot of what the Jolocom team was up to this past month:

5 years of Jolocom!

On May 22, Jolocom officially turned five years old. We had a great time celebrating and catching up with friends from the decentralization, blockchain and SSI communities during our birthday festivities here at Betahaus Kreuzberg.

Get ready for an event-packed May! Our team was super busy these past weeks planning demo activities for Bosch Connected World in Berlin and the 28th Internet Identity Workshop in California.

With our focus on these upcoming events, there was plenty to celebrate throughout April. Read on for a splash of updates and news, as well as two important announcements:

1. Prioritizing Individual Sovereignty over Interoperability

As long-term members of the decentralized identity space, we are highly concerned about recent developments in the W3C Credentials Community Group discussion on Decentralized Identifiers. A pause to celebrate + recharge

With such a full roster of events, project deliverables, and product development over the past few months, the Jolocom team decided it was time for a short getaway to relax & recharge. Inspired by our company retreat around the same time last year, we decided to organize a mid-week trip to the Brandenburg countryside. During our time out of the office we sat down together for a number workshop sessions to reflect on our progress since the start of the year, celebrate our successes, refine our strategy moving forward, and — as we would find out on day two — ride horses. …
