Part 6: Warfare
Sasha stood in the corner, eyes wide, as she felt her heart drop. The buffalo coin was a symbol of death her sister, Natasha, would send to her targets. Sasha stared at the coin as a memory from her childhood flooded her thoughts.
Sasha was seven-years- old the first time she ever saw her father and kingpin, Al Gunner, get shot at. She and Natasha were a few feet in front of their father, twirling each other around at the park over and over until whichever one of them became the most dizzy. Natasha fell first and just as Sasha jumped for joy the first shots rang out. She screamed as Natasha pulled her down to the ground with her, their arms locking together immediately. They were both screaming and afraid when she saw her father reach into his jacket and pull out a glock. He fired back, hitting the shooter and killing him with one shot to the heart. She squeezed her eyes shut and never forgot what she saw her father do. Later that night Al sat the girls down before bed and told them that dangerous people would always follow them, that they should find their strength and either kill or be killed.
She remembered the then ten year old Natasha holding her buffalo stuffed animal in her lap who she called “Buffy.” Natasha took Buffy everywhere until that day, he was dirty from the park, but Natasha made it very clear that the buffalo was something she held close. She believed it was a symbol of strength over others because of its size. As she got older, she adopted the coin to toy with her targets. She thought it was funny to see how people who thought of themselves as strong would cower in fear knowing she was after them.
Sasha sank to her knees. She was hurt because she once loved her sister very much, but never thought things would go this far. This was bad. She had to find Natasha and make peace, even if that meant risking her life. Besides, Al was really the one after her. Maybe she could talk Tasha into going after him together.
Rob sat at the desk in his office, thinking hard about his next moves. He needed to call Bash again to get an update on Natasha. The phone rang and Bash answered.
“She’s here at the hotel.” Bash said immediately.
“She tell you what she’s here for?” asked Rob.
“She’s here for all of us really, if she wants one she wants all. We just need to make sure we’re ready for her and whoever else because you know she ain’t come here alone.” replied Bash.
“I’ll call you back.” Rob hung up the phone. He was angry because he had never met Sasha’s sister, and now she’s here to kill them.
Sasha walked into the office with her husband. She was eager to tell him what she had found and her new plan when she saw the angry look on his face.
“What’s wrong?” She asked in a concerned tone.
“Your sister is here.” said Rob as he shook his head in disbelief.
“I know.” She slid the buffalo coin across the desk and into his hand. “I found this in my closet.”
Rob looked at the coin. He knew what the coin meant, he had heard stories about it, but never knew it was Natasha who held the reputation as “The Buffalo.” He enclosed the coin in his hand, making a fist as he punched his desk. Natasha was more dangerous than he initially presumed. He definitely needed Bash and Chris to help take her out.
Sasha sat down across from him. She knew what he was thinking and Bash and Chris would not be enough, she had to be the one to stop Natasha. She needed to tell her husband her new plan. She needed to tell him how she is going to talk her sister into killing her father before he has her sister killed.
Sasha finished telling Rob her plan, so he called his brother Chris to give him an update on their new option. Then, he called Bash, who answered on the first ring. They told him the plan and he was down to help them get a hold of Natasha to kill Sasha’s father and end the war for good. Just as they finished their call with Bash, Rob’s phone rang for the hundredth time that day. He was tired of people calling his phone and maybe Sasha was onto something with her new plan. He glanced at the phone and saw it was his dad, Wilson, calling him. He answered the phone with a sense of urgency. She had never seen him pick up the phone so nervously.
Rob spoke into the phone for a second and glanced up to tell Sasha who was on the other end. Wilson’s deep voice made Sasha feel nervous as Rob put the phone on speaker mode.
“Is Sasha there with you?” Wilson’s voice was clear and calm, but still very intimidating.
“I’m here.” She said.
“Someone wants to speak with you.” He responded.
After a few seconds of silence, a different voice spoke over the other end.
“Hey there baby girl. It’s been a while since we last spoke. How are you enjoying your new life?” Sasha could feel her heart skip a beat. She knew that cold voice anywhere — it was her dad, Al Gunner. Now she was more nervous than ever.
But what was he doing there with Wilson?
