Wow, I am completely stunned by this article and how anyone whom obviously has not worked a successful Agile (upper case “A”) project could take such a stance. Having overseen Agile projects successfully in corporations (not as a consultancy) for years as well as in a startup, I can say that when you build the proper team and engagement the results can be, and should be, stunning. The difference here is that you need solid leadership on both sides of the table (the business and IT/IS) to be mature enough to take on the responsibility. Blaming the methodology is simply identifying a lack of discipline or maturity for taking it on.
If the methodology does not work for you, don’t presume that it cannot work for others. Find what works for you and move on.
