How to really end clickbaits
After having read Chris’s article about clickbaits, i made my own thoughts about this really annoying practice of how media companies are making money today. I know some guys in big media and they keep telling me, they hate it as well, but that there is no other known and working way of surviving these days with digital / news content. It’s not primarily about the clicks alone — it’s about the traffic on their site, that then converts to money through their on-site advertising. They don’t even care if you read their content - they just want you to see / click on one of the banners. Sad but true. And (we all know that) as nearly no-one ever clicks on banners, it’s a number game — they need large quantities of traffic to generate just some tiny revenue through ad-clicks. This is why they would do nearly everything to make you click. The only way to end this, is not only unfollowing these sites, but also proactively supporting different business models — actually by paying for high-quality content. Unfortunately there is still no established “pay-by-view” micropayment-model that would support this, so maybe it’s time to just develop that? Anyone? It could be done through a prepaid wallet (to be charged with any payment method) — then it’s also easier to spend — because you already paid.. If anyone’s from marketing/biz side up for that, hit me up — i could deliver the product..
