2013, certainly a great year for gaming. At the time of writing, I am still yet to play The Last Of Us or Tearaway or Killzone Mercenary. How bad is that?! Yet somehow, despite missing out on these soon-to-be classics, I’ve been a busy gamer all year. That just goes to show how great this year was for gaming.
Can 2014 match it? Who knows. But there are a few things that I think will help 2014 on it’s way to being a better gaming year.
Grand Theft Auto 5 Stories

I received GTA Liberty City Stories PSP on PS Plus this month for my Vita, and, whilst playing in the pixel-filled metropolis of Liberty City, it occurred to me how incredible it would be if Rockstar reignited the ‘stories’ trend and made a return to handheld. The Vita hardware is sorely lacking support from the sort of franchise that will pull people into the Playstation franchise; GTA is a name will make even the most hardcore Xbox devotees sit up and listen, and I, as well as many others, would love an excuse to return to Los Santos.
A Truly Cross-Platform Game

I know it’s difficult. I know there are complications and impracticalities but just imagine a world where we can all play together! War Thunder has PS4 and PC cross-platform multiplayer but I think we can go one better. I just prefer a world where we could all get along and play together. (Bonus points if it’s a MMORG game!)
Uncharted 4

Yes yes I know it’s already coming. But this is a 2014 wishlist, so I'm putting this here because I hope it launches by the end of the year. I recently replayed Uncharted 3 (because I bought a 3D TV and it’s my favourite game with native 3D support) and I just remembered how truly great it was. It’s so telling when a game can have things that aren't great, like it’s shooting mechanics or it’s occasional glitchy jumping, but it’s still an incredible game. I’m pretty confident Naughty Dog will realise they have to switch things up a little for U4, and I’m even more confident that it will be the best Uncharted so far.
More Playroom DLC

What? I’m a sucker for adorably fun things like The Playroom. It’s helped me justify my PS4 to my family because it’s something they can enjoy too. They’ve already promised DLC from Double Fine but I’m hoping there’s more beyond that to keep it fun (though I could probably play with those little robots forever).
Just Cause 3

This list isn’t ordered, but this is definitely what I want the most. Just Cause 2 was absolutely the most fun I ever had with a game. That sprawling open world. The hilariously obvious rip offs and political sideswipes. Rico’s peculiar voice acting. The explosions. This game had it all, and I poured hours and hours into it. The power of next-gen could put Rico into an even more expansive and incredible world than before and making the game one hundred times more fun.
