Mirah, here’s rule #13:
“Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.
All my life, I’ve watched political extremists of all stripes use this to enforce strict hegemony. Jill Stein’s sycophants did this to Hillary Clinton. In the Republican party, extremists did this to responsible, moderate Republicans. 
This thinking is poisonous to dialog and thoughtful discourse. It undermines understanding.
I spent 12 years in elected public office. This kind of thinking never helped us.
