I no longer understand my PhD dissertation (and what this means for Mathematics Education)

What I had hoped this article would focus on, was how esoteric and unapproachable scholarly writing and publishing can be. Jargon and complexity make the knowledge and findings contained within unaccessible to many, as you point out, even to yourself just a few years later. As a science communicator, I am sensitive to the need to make content approachable. To do so, means academics must talk not just to their peers, but to a wider audience, and even in Junaid’s case, clearly incorporating within his dissertation these three values for lay readers to understand its value.
