March for Science Chicago Announces Speaker: Dr. Lee Bitsoi

Dr. Lee Bitsoi, Director of Diversity and Inclusion at Rush University

The March for Science Chicago is so happy to announce Dr. Lee Bitsoi has accepted our invitation to speak at the rally on April 22, 2017.

Dr. Bitsoi is a proud member of the Navajo Nation. He is the Director of Diversity and Inclusion at Rush University and a powerful leader in the overall STEM diversity movement. As a scientist, Dr. Bitsoi’s research focuses on the ethical, legal, and social implications of genetic/genomic research within Native American communities. Dr. Bitsoi is also a leader within SACNAS (Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics & Native Americans in Science) as a past board member and he is currently the chair of the Native American Affairs Committee and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board. He works to make science and its benefits more accessible to marginalized and underrepresented populations as well as studying the impact of health services on LGBTQ+ Veterans.

Dr. Bitsoi will speak to his personal and professional experiences in science including his work and the importance of improving diversity within an ethical science.
