Short bio
I am a marine biologist graduated from the Algarve University, Portugal. But I started my career in the tourism industry — I was first a dolphin watch tour guide.
Then I moved on and did a PhD because that is what people do when they really don’t know what to do. But I really enjoyed writing scientific papers and presenting my work at international conferences. I still do, but find other communication styles more interesting and engaging — photography, video, audio, storytelling.

I also enjoy asking questions so I did several journalism short courses… started blogging in 2010, created education and scientific content, developed an academic career. I lectured and supervise PhDs students … now I am also a project manager.
I am passionate about the food production system, especially the seafood system — most of my research is on the aquaculture of non fed species — bivalves and seaweeds — and physiology and biochemistry of crustaceans.
