A dream return for Rishabh Pant
It wasn’t long before when there was a big question mark over the career of Rishabh Pant. But God had different plans for the young left-handed batter. It was in December 2022, after the Test Series with Bangladesh, the dashing left-handed batter was involved in a car accident and got seriously injured, some of the injuries could have even caused him permanent damages and ended his cricket career. Fast forward 2024, Rishabh Pant stands tall to make a comeback in red ball cricket against the same opponents, he last played against.
The southpaw, after making comeback in the white ball format, was part of the T20 World Cup winning team and would have cherished each moment of that amazing tournament. Making a comeback, especially in the Test format is always considered tougher than the other formats, however, with a player like Rishabh Pant it might not be the case.
In his career of 33 Test Matches, Pant has accumulated 2271 runs at a healthy average of 43.67 with five centuries. He has also been part of famous wins for India in Test Matches overseas and had been a vital cog in the Gabba victory for India in 2020/21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Pant in red ball cricket is a sight to behold and the batter flourishes with extra-ordinary batting skills and stupendous display of keeping behind the wickets. The Bangladesh Test Series will once again give the aggressive batter an opportunity to stamp his authority in Test Matches and be a match winner, like he always was in this format.
