A left-handed batter with morrant batting pads, dominating the off-side, and tonking the spinners for huge straight sixes…. we have seen that before while Saurav Ganguly used to bat for India, and, now a 22-year old batter from Mumbai is taking the world by storm with his uncanny resemblance to Saurav Ganguly in the way he bats.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, knocked the door down with his scintillating performances in domestic cricket to force his selection into the Indian Cricket Team and his story has been nothing short of what dreams are made of. The batter has come through the ranks of domestic cricket and has seen a lot of struggle in his childhood days. However, all these struggles shaped him to be the sportsperson he is today. The left-handed swashbuckling opener has taken the world of Test Cricket by storm through his confident and elegant batting prowess. In the ongoing India vs England Test Series, Jaiswal again proved his worth by scoring an elegant and dominant 209 off 290 balls, and a key point to note was that Jaiswal reached each of his milestone from 50 to 200 with either a four or a six. Showing the fearless approach the batter has been applying in his game.

The young batter has impressed everyone with his skills and understanding of the game, however, it is also remarkable to see the patience and resilience the batter possess. Jaiswal’s knock of 209 in the ongoing test match against England, contributed to more than 50 percent of the teams total, as the team was bundled out for a score of 396, where all the other batters from the Indian side were unable to breach the mark of 35 runs. It shows the amount of responsibility the batter was able to take and guide his team to a respectable total after other batters like Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Rohit Sharm and Rajat Patidhar were unable to convert their starts into big scores.

Jaiswal, during the post-play interview on day 1, highlighted how the captain and coach backed his ability and he stressed on how he wants to “double it up” and stay till the end. Jaiswal walked the talk, and on the second day of the test match was able to reach his maiden double hundred with a boundary off Joe Root. It would be really amazing to see the growth of this young left-handed batter, as he has had a promising start to his career and the dominance and elegance of the batter will surely give more delightful knocks in the future to the fans to cherish on!
