In 2009, we had this crazy idea.

What if we created a pop-up department store… where everything was free?

Like a swap party, but huge.

With DJs

Drinks

Celebrities

Food

And style partners to curate each department.

Like Etsy curating the craft department, Nylon Magazine curating the clothes department, local librarians curating the media department, and music-enthusiasts curating the…

you guessed it.

So we did!

…and 1,600 people showed up

And kept showing up.
