The first distillery visit on the March tour was Auchentoshan, in Glasgow. I took the Ultimate Tour.

Auchentoshan is Triple Distilled, which is very rare in Single Malt Scotches. As a result the flavors are very light, almost an aperitif. It was jokingly referred to as ‘breakfast dram’, which is an exaggeration — I would wait till at least 10 AM to have it..

Auchentoshan — Only three ingredients
The flagship: American Oak
Followed by Three Wood. So-called because three different casks (American Oak, Sherry and PX) are used. Spicy!
Cheers from the Auchentoshan Warehouse! Had a PX Cask pour which was amazing!
The next two in line were 21 yo and 24 yo “Noble Oak”.
Followed by “Blood Oak” (French Red Wine Cask) and “Virgin Oak” (PX Cask)
Mahj was a wonderful tour guide and generously posed with Scotch Aficionado banner.

An excellent start to the trip! Thanks Auchentoshan!

This is first in the series of distilleries visited in March 2017. Check out the entire itinerary here.
