[This is a continuation of my March 2017 trip to Scotland — see overview here.]

The next stop was Balblair. I had not tried any Balblair expressions before the trip, so I was excited to visit the distillery and discover the brand.

Balblair — highly computerized and automated, with a small team that clearly enjoys the wonderful single malts they produce.
We started with 05, which is basically the 2005 Vintage, and 99 (1999 Vintage).
(19)90 was absolutely delicious! Ending on a high note, we had (19)83 next.
Distillery-exclusive was quite good as well, and I grabbed a bottle. That “OHA” (Old Hairy Arms) in the picture above is yours truly!
Julie hosted the distillery visit as well as the tasting, and she made the tasting much more enjoyable by letting me discover the tastes before sharing the notes of the master blender. Here’s the Scotch Aficionado banner!

It was a thoroughly enjoyable and fun trip to Balblair. Thanks Julie & team!
