[This is a continuation of my March 2017 trip to Scotland — see overview here.]

Other than Glen Scotia, there are only two other distilleries in Campbeltown: Springbank and Glengyle. Glengyle expressions are released under the brand ‘Kilkerran’. So for my next tour in Campbeltown, I chose the “Springbank & Mitchell’s Glengyle Tour”.

Along with Springbank, Longrow and Hazelburn, you can find nearly any distillery’s casks in their warehouse. Advantage of being owned by Cadenhead!

Followed by a tour of Springbank, we went over to Glengyle. It is a couple of minutes worth of walking.

Glengyle Distillery, producing Kilkerran.

After the distillery tour we went back to Cadenhead Whisky shop for tasting.

Hazelburn is unpeated, Kilkerran is slightly peated.

A couple of Springbank expressions followed.

10 yo Marrying Strength expression was distillery exclusive.

Then came Longrow Cask Strength, at 56.6% abv. Peaty!

Longrow Cask Strength! Peaty!

Seeing that the tasting group preferred peaty stuff, Mitch took out a few more scotches for us to taste. These were not from the Campbeltown distilleries, but that’s the advantage of being in Cadenhead!

You read that right — these are from Laphroaig and Bowmore!

Thus concluded the Campbeltown portion of my trip. Thanks Mitch & Cadenhead!
