At some point the Magic Box causes a phase change. For instance, if the box can create housing components and foodstuffs from dirt, then you could move to the middle of nowhere where land is cheap or free (much land in the west/midwest is devoted to growing foodstuffs, which will become redundant), and simply detach from the world. It’s unclear if that point can be reached in a discrete system like we have, since for many items it may not be worth automating production to that extent — though maybe it would be if robotic delivery becomes a given.
