I’ve spent a lot of my life living horizontally. What do I mean by that?
I’ve looked out the rear view mirror, lamenting about the past, wondering “what if?”
I’ve looked out the windshield, stressing and worrying about the future.
All the while, I’ve missed a lot of what’s happening right now. Today.
Lots of people call this mindfulness.
Richard Rohr calls it presence. He’s brilliant.
For me, I call it living vertically. Living in the exact moment, right where I am, and soaking it in.
It’s incredibly hard. I’m still learning.
