Blogging About The Apocalypse
There’s this meme in leftist circles that holds that any action that doesn’t work toward creating the conditions for imminent socialist revolution is some variant of liberalism. As the story goes, guaranteed minimum incomes, nationalized healthcare, &c., are all reformist kludges meant to pacify the masses.
And this line of thinking would even make sense, if these weren’t some of the things we’ve (inasmuch as “we” are a thing) already been fighting for on some level! But they are. So it doesn’t.
Here’s what happens when you start adopting accelerationist revolutionary praxes: you start making arguments that give the bourgeoisie what they want. Suddenly, opposition to, for example, single payer healthcare, becomes a piece of “working class politics,” because the accelerationists support it. Ditto opposition to guaranteed incomes, free housing, free meals for the dispossessed, and so on.
Instead of trying to demolish capitalism in one step, something that has never really been attempted, and something that is so costly as to be unfeasible in our current state, here’s a crazy idea: fight for what you actually want!
