Paul, here’s to stopping birthday celebrations! As we get older, it’s probably wiser to celebrate each day we’re fortunate enough to be alive.
I love Breaking Away, one of my favorite movies. It was one of the very first screenplays I read (way back in 1986). It’s an apt metaphor: Writers outside the business are locals. Hollywood is the university. How do we break in? Have to prove ourselves and bust down the damn door. How do we do that? With our writing.
So best thing is to duct tape our feet to our bike pedals and go at it on the track as fast — or more appropriately — as long as we can. Persistence is key. And talent. And luck. And wisdom…
Keep on keeping on, Paul!
