I understand what Mr. Leon is writing about. I believe everyone code-switches. There are different kinds of code-switching. Mr. Leon experiences one that’s unique to being a Black in America.

Having lived in different countries, states, regions, and having married a woman from a different country, I see it happening with her, with my kids, me with other people, etc…Am I at work? Playing ball? With my buds? With my parents and their generation? With my in-laws? Code-switching.

It’s an interesting human response to the environment we occupy at a particular moment.
