The only way to gain writing experience is to actually start writing. Image by Bermix Studio / Unsplash

Writing a good short story isn’t rocket science reserved for the talented few. Truth be told, it’s something anyone can learn to do and do well. If you’re willing to take the necessary steps to learn the fundamentals, you can become proficient in your endeavor to write well. The goal of this article is to introduce you to those fundamentals through basic facts and simple examples.

Anyone can scribble words onto a piece of paper, that’s easy. But the whole idea of writing is to be able to take those words and put them together in such a way as…

We are energetic beings. Our bodies broadcast an energy field that can be picked up by others.

Have you ever been introduced to someone and instantly knew you either liked or disliked the person?

Maybe you’ve made a comment like, “That person’s giving me bad vibes.”

That’s energy at work and you’re picking up on it.

I’m sure you’ve heard the statement, “You are what you eat.” The physical health of your body and your immune system is dependent on what you put into it.

Along those same lines I would say “You are what you think.” Your mental health, (and your world view for that matter) is directly connected to your thoughts. …

That might be the case if you’re not thinking for yourself.

You might believe you are thinking for yourself. Most likely you’re not.

You live in a society that has conditioned you to think according to what those in positions of power want you to believe. You think your thoughts are your own, but they’re not. That’s the illusion.

You have been programmed since you were very young to believe in the American Dream. A dream that says wealth and riches are available to everyone. Reach for that brass ring and accumulate material possessions at any cost. He who dies with the most toys wins is the mantra of the American Dream.

Why do you believe this?

Because what you have been conditioned to believe to be the…

If you live your live concerned about what others think. Concerned about how they feel about you or your work, that’s your unhealthy ego playing games with your mind. More than anything else, it’s your ego that will hold you back. Don’t let it keep you from being the best you can be.

How can not eating improve your well being?

I was just settling in at my computer when my wife came into the room and announced, “I have this great idea. I think we should go on a three day fast.”

I chuckled. “You think it’s a great idea. Me, not so much.”

“Come on, I’ve been reading about how fasting is so good for your overall health and well being. I think we should give it a try.”

I asked her to show me the data. …

Do you believe you can fly like the person in the image below? Would you have the confidence to try? Would you succeed?

If not flying, what do you believe you can achieve?

Each success you achieve in life starts with what you believe.

Do you believe in yourself? Do you have confidence in the things you do? Do you have the confidence to even try?

It’s surprising how many people who want to be successful lack the one essential ingredient to achieve their dream. They don’t believe. Their lack of belief keeps them grounded.

They don’t believe in themselves. They don’t believe in their talents. They don’t believe in their abilities. …

Today’s dream becomes tomorrows reality.

Thoughts (and dreams) backed by an elevated emotion become your habits. Your habits soon become the circumstances of your life.

Do you sit and ponder upon those dream like thoughts that float across your mind or do you quickly brush them aside like a pesky fly disrupting your nap time?

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.

There’s too much information posted on Medium about Medium for someone not to know how it all works.

When you set out to accomplish something, do you set yourself up to fail or succeed?

I know It’s a stupid question. No one starts out to fail, miserably or otherwise.

Yet, so many people do fail at accomplishing what they set out to do.

Let’s see if we can figure out why this happens. I’m going to scratch this old dog one more time and use Medium as our example. I’ll be coming at it from a different angle so stick with me here.

According to Medium’s own statistics, somewhere around 8% of active writers earn over $100 per…

One of the best ways to be successful at what you do is to stop listening to the unsolicited advice and opinions of others.

Not totally. There are times when you need to take other peoples opinions to heart, but only when you ask for it.

What I’m about to say is from first hand experience.

My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer four and one half years ago. We went against conventional “wisdom” and chose a natural route to deal with it.

We were demonized for it. Mostly by the medical profession, but others as well.

We knew we were doing what was right for us. There were a lot of hard feelings by those who’s opinions we refused to listen to or follow. …
