Thanks for the response, Alejandro! Being creative involves breaking patterns and making connections. The more connections you are able to establish, particularly between unrelated or disparate elements, the more opportunities and potential you make. As far as a particular approach, I would say that moment to moment people need to work to experience life with open eyes and ears and without preconceived notions of how something should be. The term “creative person” or similar makes me nervous. I’ve been called that and I don’t think of myself as particularly creative. I listen well and can develop options and see opportunities very quickly, which people have told me makes me creative. For me, to be effective as a creative-type and as a designer, you have to be able to provide useful, elegant solutions — not just folly.
