Tom Henry for Fort Wayne Mayor
11/3/19

The people of Fort Wayne, native or adopted, from the southeast to the northwest, inherit an incredible history. From the Miami’s Kekionga to La Salle and the French’s Miamitown, Fort Wayne has been a historical node for the evolution of America.
John Akenbruck writes that Fort Wayne is “so blessed by nature and coveted by man,” the setting “for events as exciting as any in America’s early history… An important trading center, crucial waterway, thriving and strategic fort, farming community, beloved site of festivals and parks, home of cottage industries and major manufacturing concerns alike, Fort Wayne’s various incarnations represent in smaller scale the growth and progress of America itself.”
At its core, Fort Wayne is a great city because its families and its people are great. It is a great city because its people’s hearts are open, ambitions are considered, opportunities are taken and dreams are strived for every day.
In sum, Fort Wayne is capitalizing on its past and is on the rise building its bright future. And as a son of this city, I know Tom Henry is best suited to lead for another term from the mayor’s office. He has been at the helm as the city has truly awakened unto itself and built itself into a thriving midwestern metropolis.
In this politically contentious era, cities, especially mid-sized metros, are the laboratories of American democracy. They are where things get done. Look no further than Promenade Park, a growing population, endless accolades for affordability, family friendly entertainment, new restaurants and new art to see the city’s growth. There is a widespread acknowledgment that the best is yet to come and that Fort Wayne is growing into its full potential. All this with Tom Henry as the city’s leader, chief spokesman and chief executive.
The people of Fort Wayne should take a look at how the city has improved, grown and changed since Tom Henry took office. What incredible progress. What a beautiful growth in culture.
If something isn’t broken, don’t fix it. And if a city is thriving, don’t change its mayor.
Tom Henry has proven he can handle a complex administration, grow an already wonderful city and lead with dedication to our best values. His leadership has been a great chapter in Fort Wayne’s beautiful history, where the city moved from a mostly industrial heavy center into a twenty-first century university town, arts capitol, service industry city that attracts ambitious people the world over. This is a time of positive change for the city. But it does not require a change in leadership.
Fort Wayne, reelect Tom Henry as mayor in 2019.
