hey Francis, thanks for the great post. To build on your treatise, yes, there are psychological/emotional barriers that you totally address and how to overcome them. And there are also structural impediments to unity or what I might call mutualism that have to be addressed. Firstly, the whole discourse, at least in business, is dominated by shareholder, publically traded companies. These companies are structurally against the public good as they are have to generate money for shareholders. They aren’t necessarily ‘bad’, but they are structually a seperating force. 
The sto9ck market dominates our disource and so circumscibes what most people think is even possible. The Dow, S&P are quoted on the news, and the Fortune 500 dominate the media (themselves traded on the stock-market), business schools and society. Yet only 10% of the population is employed by these companies. Yet you’d think they were the only game in town. 
Firstly, we have to challenge the current discourse, which is tough. And know what you are proposing is counter-cultural. The other thing is to find examples of mutualism, like successful co-op movements that show mutualism/unity works. Small example: The Green Bay Packers are the only team in the NFL owned by their fans (the NFL banned teams being owned by their fans, go figure). Hey, that’s structural unity. I guarentee you, if the Raiders were owned by their fans they wouldn’t be going to LV. That’s a small example (and personal!) but you see what I’m getting at. We need to address the structural impendiments to unity as well as the psychological. The other thing I’d say is youth leadership: get to the kids with this message and help them craft their own own unity-led leadership (I’m copyrighting that ;-) ha ha) before they get plugged into the Matrix.
