VR Will Break Museums

Museums gather things of significance and attempt to reveal that significance to visitors. VR can compensate for the failures in the nature of museums and/or in the use of museums by curators — that’s my understanding of the point you’re making.

Good point, but it made me think that VR could — in addition to returning museum pieces to the real world — could turn the real world into a museum. We could go on an actual submarine dive (or whatever you’d call it). I could record a walk on an ordinary day in my little town in the northwest of Ireland, turning that day in the life into a historic artifact that would be experienced forever more and whose context is built into it.

Just a thought…
