Gruesome Playground Injuries: Eau Claire
Intimacy Runs Deep

Last night it was my privilege to watch a Backstage performance of Gruesome Playground Injuries at the State Theatre in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Directed by Jake Lindgren and starring Molly Wilson and Sean Porten, the show travels non-linearly through a friendship between an accident prone guy and a foul mouthed, troubled girl who is best friends with him.
Being backstage and 5 feet away at most from the actors really builds the narrative.
You viscerally feel their wonder, joy, pain, and love as their story unfolds right in front of you.
For this to work you need actors who are unafraid to embody their characters and a director who understands the nuances of the script. This play has that.
Gruesome Playground Injuries concludes its Eau Claire run tonight at 7:30 pm (3/19/15) at the State Theatre. But, this is the kind of story that will go on living…
