The Art of Frustration, Positive Aggressive Energy and Fearlessness
I was on the phone with a client earlier today who was talking about her ambition to make a impact on her industry and bring leadership to it. As she discussed some of the office politics that get in the way of things actually getting done at a company she is being contracted to help, she spoke with a level of frustration that I found admirable. It was a frustration that communicated “this is not alright, I am not ok with it, and I am going to consistently take action to see this change happen until it is changed.”
I love coming across this fierce attitude in pursuit of change for the better when it becomes clear that the person is looking at the situation objectively. This attitude is a form of positive aggression that is incredibly useful when you learn to tap into it; it’s something you can use to achieve both short-term and long-term results when facing resistance in pursuit of something you want to accomplish. This might be in a relationship, an organization, society at large or with a client. When you can tap into this power with a level-headed objectivity, you cultivate a level of fearlessness that truly can’t lose.
For greater study on Positive Aggression, I recommend Maxwell Maltz’ book Psycho-Cybernetics.
For greater study on Fearlessness, I recommend Robert Greene’s The 50th Law.
