How to Import Day One Entries into Notion and Build an “On This Day” Feature
You’ve seen all of the posts and videos about Notion. The idea of pairing down your app subscriptions and creating a central operating system to help you run your life sounds like a dream.
But there is one problem. How do you get all of your old Day One journal entries into Notion?
You have spent years documenting your life in Day One. You have collected hundreds, if not thousands of entries, photos, ideas, self-counseling sessions, memories and stats over the years. Plus, you love how Day One shows you what you entries from the past. You can’t simply walk away from it all for a shiny new app.
The good news is it is possible to build a Day One style journal archive in Notion as long as you are willing to accept some minor compromises.
The Plan
- Export your entries from Day One.
- Import your entries into Notion.
- Build an “On this day…” feature in Notion.
Export Your Entries from Day One
You will need to export your Day One entries as a CSV file. Currently, the only way to do this is on an iOS device.
