Mat —I’m trying to help you out here, so read this. In one article, you are stating that you madly respect the founders who are heads down working on their startups rather than attending events to network and advise other founders. Now, you are frustrated because too many founders are heads down working on their startups rather than supporting you personally? Do you think that just maybe, the other founders out there are getting requests like yours from dozens of folks? And perhaps they attend these events because they are an outlet to not just advise, but also learn from others in their shoes? I spent 6 months in San Francisco launching Allbound — the most valuable part of it wasn’t the 15-minute 1:1 meetings I got with other founders and CEOs. It was the conversations I had at one networking or learning event after another, the chats I struck-up with strangers I met at Starbucks, the six other CEOs I shared a table with at WeWork…I even got one of my launch ideas from a conversation I had at 7:30PM riding BART home from work. Go get it…it’s not coming to you.
