It’s Been a Long Time
It’s been a long time
Since I’ve spoken your name
And It’s been a long time
Since I’ve held your gaze
It’s been awhile now
Since I’ve heard your voice
Perfect gilded memories
Slow burned down to noise
And it most often doesn’t matter
And I usually don’t care
But my thoughts
They sometimes wander
To a place we used to share
It’s like a sonnet never finished
Or a Novel that we burned
It’s a poem left un-recited
A Happy Ever After…
That we never earned
I seem to recall now
A promise that we made
But as it played out
Only lies prevailed
And I still remember
Every word we said
It seems that sadly somehow
Wrong words caused a death
And it most often doesn’t matter
And I usually don’t care
