That is not to say that I do not appreciate the understanding of brain function in its connection with thinking or choices or emotions. It is just that, like understanding the role of a spark plug in an internal combustion engine, it does not help you actually get to the grocery store when things are working normally.
The vast majority of brains of organizational management operate pretty efficiently. Sure, we can teach them about Kahnemann’s work (“Thinking, Fast and Slow”) or about emotional intelligence, and we depend on Broca’s Area and the motor cortex for movement, but we do NOT have to understand glial cells to do a better job of involving, engaging, and aligning people for improving organizational performance.
I like my brain. I understand much about it. And I am also glad that other people often use their brains to make decisions.
