Giving my images for free

Samuel Zeller, you’ve made an article that is so close to my experience I felt I was reading my own thoughts. I’ve shared over 500 images now on Unsplash between accounts, been part of the Unsplash book, and had 4 photos curated. It’s beyond me.

My shooting increased 10x and with more photos than I can submit to Unsplash, I put some up for sale on sites like 500px, EyeEm, and Creative Market. I am trying to test out the dying stock industry, I guess. I hope to report on it in the future.

I do believe we can still give away a great deal of imagery, while still trying to earn as well. Of course, I’d rather be shooting projects for clients and giving them custom imagery; however, it’s a tough gig and one I’m trying to navigate myself. I’m hoping that I can also build a library that could earn me a little bit of income while there may be client lag. I can’t rely on good will or charity donations. It would be super nice if I received some; however, I’d rather offer something of even greater value to such a person. Trust me though, offering my photos for free is in my heart.

I’d love to chat in private and discuss more on landing clients sometime!
