For Emily Ratajkowski, there was no lesson learned here. What she has gone through is just a symptom of the ignorance, hatred, and callousness of people in this society. If you voice your opinion about anything, a critisicm about Talyor Swift, a comment against Beyonce, whomever your pop idol may be, you will get a slew of hate-twits. And since this is politics, you can’t possibly know what you’re getting into because your are “just a model”. What she has experienced was mild in comparison to others who have gone through such things in the past but with more visceral attacks. Be it religion, politics, sex, or the ultimate bombshell, race, those who have an agenda to grind will lash out against you. A long time ago, it was public lynching. Today it is social media lynching. While the former has claimed many lives, the latter damages your soul. It’s easy to say grow a thinker skin but everyone is not built the same way. Being bullied was once considered not a fatal disease but with so many tragedies surrounding online bullying, it’s an area where the social media platforms have no taken seriously and have begun taking steps to stop this madness. i don’t know where Emily’s head is right now, how much damage has this done to her at all, if any. Placing your support behind a particular candidate should not rise to the level of calling someone a liberal dumbass cunt. And because Bernie Sanders is Jewish, we also get to see anti-Semitic post as well. But then again, we saw this type of behavior during Obama’s candidacy that has continued through out his presidency that has come from members of the House and Senate. Emily is in fine company in that perspective. She can’t retreat, she can’t surrender. The dumbasses who write these .22 caliber missives do so for the bragging rights, to make note of how they went after someone but are cowards when the attacks come back to haunt them. And where is it written that it is a crime that you can’t voice your thoughts on issues just because you are attractive unless you’re a commentator on Fox.
