Way to keep it real. Restricting yourself to what is comfortable prevents you from gaining wisdom from uncomfortable or sometimes painful experiences. Furthermore, having experienced pain makes you more capable of enjoying the other side of the emotional spectrum. Alexandre Dumas said it best: “Only a man who has felt ultimate despair is capable of feeling ultimate bliss.” I also feel that we often learn or are affected more from pain than joy. For example you can probably recall the last thing that made you sad before the last thing that made you smile. Everything in moderation though, eh?
